Get rid of the SNMP connection messages in logs

Usually if you install the SNMP daemon in Debian like systems there is for every SNMP connection a new line in the messages or the daemon.log.

When I configure a server, the only connections possible are Read-Only SNMP requests AND my firewall only accepts connections from my Nagios and Cacti servers.

So I don't want all these informational messages about connections.

This is what I did:

Open the /etc/default/snmpd file

Change this line:

SNMPDOPTS='-Lsd -Lf /dev/null -u snmp -g snmp -I -smux -p /var/run/snmpd.pid'

To:

SNMPDOPTS='-LS0-4d -Lf /dev/null -u snmp -g snmp -I -smux -p /var/run/snmpd.pid'

So in this way, my informational messages, above below level 4 are ignored. (also I have extra parts for the user and group of the SNMPD process, not necessary).

Restart your SNMP Daemon:

service snmpd restart
